Lesson 5: What Victory Looks Like — Your Mastery Vision

Right now, on this page, write down what victory looks like when you finish this course. Not what you hope will happen. Not what would be nice. What would actually constitute success for you? For some people it's simple: I want to post consistently on LinkedIn and get one meeting a month from it. For others it's bigger: I want to generate 50% of my pipeline from digital channels instead of 20%. For others it's identity-level: I want to see myself as a digital seller, not someone trying digital selling. What's your version?

From the Field

I worked with a VP of Sales at a mid-market SaaS company who started this course thinking he needed to learn video. Three modules in, he realized what he actually needed was to teach his team to use digital as their primary prospecting channel. His victory condition shifted from "I'll get good at this" to "My team will go from cold-calling 80% of their day to strategic digital prospecting, and we'll reduce time-to-first-meeting by 40%." That clarity changed what he paid attention to in every lesson. He built Module 4 around his team's struggles. He brought applications back to his sales meetings. He turned this course from personal learning into organizational transformation.

Another example: a solo financial advisor felt like digital selling didn't apply to her market. "People want to meet with me in person," she said. But her actual problem was different—she was spending 60% of her week on networking events that produced maybe one quality lead. Her victory was: I want to build authority in my niche on LinkedIn so that three to five qualified prospects a month come inbound instead of me chasing events. That one clarity reframed the entire course. She started seeing patterns in every lesson about how to position authority without being in the room.

"Your victory condition is your north star. It determines what you focus on, what you apply, what you build. Get this clear now, and everything that follows becomes about moving toward that."

— Marques Ogden

Key Principle

The most powerful thing about having a clear victory condition is that it becomes your filter. When you're in Module 3 learning about video strategy, and you think "this doesn't apply to me," you check your victory condition. If your victory is "I want to be known as an expert in my field," then suddenly video absolutely applies. That clarity prevents you from throwing away lessons that don't feel immediately relevant. It also prevents you from getting lost in the tactics and forgetting the outcome you're moving toward.

Your victory condition should be specific enough that you'll know when you've achieved it, but expansive enough that it challenges you. "I want to post more on LinkedIn" is too vague. "I want to grow from zero to 500 followers with engagement rates above 3%" is too narrow. "I want to build authority and pipeline on LinkedIn such that one qualified deal a month comes inbound" is right-sized.

Check In With Yourself

If you can't define your victory condition, that's information. Maybe you're still figuring out what you want. Maybe you haven't given yourself permission to want something bigger. Maybe you're waiting for permission from someone else. Notice that without judgment. Then do the work anyway. As you move through this course and start seeing what's possible, your victory condition will become clearer. You'll see things you didn't see at the start. But for now, write down something. It's better to have a direction and adjust as you go than to have none at all.

Your Move

Write your victory condition down in a place you'll see it. Pin it to your wall. Put it in your phone as a reminder. When you hit the harder modules and the application gets real, you're going to remember this moment. You're going to remember that you chose this. And that choice—that's what carries you through. This is the end of Module 0. You know what this course is for. You know where you're starting. You know what victory looks like. Now go build it.
